Dear Parents and Guardians,

    On September 27th I will start working with the 6th grade class during advisory.  I will be facilitating an 12 week social skills curriculum based on a crisis prevention safety model.  This will be informative and fun for students.  

We will cover the following topics:
    *Behavioral levels-How to monitor ourselves and others.
    *Personal Space-Body Language.
    *Paraverbal Communication (Tone, Volume and Cadence).
    *Defensive Behaviors- How these can lead to consequences.
    *Keys to setting limits with peers.
    *Empathic Listening-Reflective Listening.
    *Fear and Anxiety.

    On September 27th I will start working with the 5th grade on a weekly basis.  I will be facilitating a 12 week violence prevention curriculum called Second Step. 

We will cover the following topics:
Empathy Training through Active Listening.
Accepting Differences and Expressing Concern.
Predicting feelings, physical and verbal cues and Cause/Effect.
Interpersonal Problem Solving.
Expression Concern, intentions and kindness.

    This will offer language and support which is crucial to social learning.  I look forward to hearing ideas, insights and examples from your student.  If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.  As always thanks for your support!

Queridos Pais e Tutores,

No 27 de setembro vou começar a trabalhar com a 5 ª série cada semana. Eu vou estar facilitando um currículo de 12 semanas de prevenção da violência chamada Segunda Etapa. Este será informativa e divertida para os alunos.

Falamos dos seguintes tópicos:
Empatia Formação pela Ouvir Activo.
Aceitar as diferenças e expressar sua preocupação.
Prevendo sentimentos, sinais físicos e verbais e causa / efeito.
Resolução de problemas interpessoais.
Expressao Preocupaçaos, intenções e bondade.
